Reminiscing London 2020

I have been thinking a bunch about travel. I love to travel and the last few years I have made a point to jump on any opportunity to travel that I can (as long as it is safe). You could even say that one of 2022 goals is to travel a bit more.

The trip that got the ball rolling on my obsession with travel was my 2019-2020 Sport in London study abroad trip. I was always the kid that assumed that study abroad was something that I couldn’t do or afford so I was very happy to be able to take advantage of this opportunity my senior year.

Given, it was not your traditional study abroad trip. This study abroad trip was really a spring course that was done in class (and suddenly over zoom, thanks to COVID) in the Spring of 2020 but we kicked it off with a quick trip to London from late December to early January.

Obviously, the trip was all about Sport in London. We visited lots of stadiums and athletic facilities, spoke to a lot of people that work in sport, and took time to meet in groups and talk about what we had learned. One of the big gems from this trip was, of course, the free time that we had. The professor leading this trip is all about experiential learning (and honestly, it’s the best kind of learning) so I took the time to be curious and explore some things that I love, just from the “perspective of London.” As a result, I was able to visit out the Design Museum, The Tate Modern, and the Jane Austen Museum and got to experience some of the things I love outside of sport.

The cool thing about reflecting on your experiences the fact that you can continually grow, learn, and create new things from those experiences.

I think one of the reasons my mind continually wanders back to this trip is the fact that no matter how much time has passed I can reflect on the sports loving side of me and blend it with the curious and creative side of me to create new perspectives on something that took place over two years ago. Here are some of these collected thoughts and memories, just from a few different visual perspectives.

The Rattlers: Fall Season

By now, whether you know me personally or if you stumbled upon my website, you know I LOOOOOVEEE photography. If you didn’t…well, there is nothing I can do to help you.

I was very lucky to take an internship with Tony Morano, an awesome photographer that can get the perfect picture of just about anything. One of his many clients is St. Mary’s University Athletic Department so I got to spend the fall semester taking photos at games! This was such a fun opportunity for several reasons:

  1. I love photography

  2. I love sports

  3. I got to learn how to do something new

  4. I got to use a the fanciest dang camera I’ve ever gotten my hands on

Anyways, I know most of you guys are probably done reading by now so here is some of my favorite work from this season!
